HOW TO USE THE SMARTALEC PRINTING SERVICE
Lincoln Park Public Library offers library customers the SmartALEC wireless printing service. With SmartALEC, customers can print documents at the library using their laptops, smartphones and tablets. SmartALEC works when customers create an account with SmartALEC and can upload documents to the library's wireless printing website. In addition, customers can download SmartALEC apps from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store for their mobile devices.
The library charges $0.10 per page for black and white printouts and $0.30 per page for color printouts.
PRINTING INSTRUCTIONS FROM YOUR LAPTOP OR COMPUTER

GUESTS: Click on the Visitors button, enter your email or cell phone number, and click Submit. The automatically generated guest card number and PIN will be emailed/texted to you. Next, log in with the guest card number and PIN. Note: Guest passes do not expire, you can continue to use this account in the future for wireless printing as needed.

Click Choose File to upload your document to your SmartAlec account.

To print your document(s), go to the Circulation Desk at the Lincoln Park Public Library and ask them to enter your library card number and PIN to see your uploaded files.
PRINTING INSTRUCTIONS FROM YOUR iPHONE OR iPAD
GUESTS: To use the SmartAlec app you must first create an account on the website (see steps 1-2 above).

Log into the Smart Alec app with your library card (or guest card) number and PIN. This allows the app to accept your uploaded documents and associate them with your library account.

Open the document you wish to print and tap the Action button.

From the Action menu, select the SmartAlec app. If you don’t see the SmartAlec app, tap on More and select SmartAlecPrint from the list.

Tap Send.

Open the SmartAlec app to confirm the document is in the queue.

To print your document(s), go to the Circulation Desk at the Lincoln Park Public Library and ask them to enter your library card number and PIN to see your uploaded files.
PRINTING FROM YOUR ANDROID SMARTPHONE OR TABLET
GUESTS: To use the SmartAlec app you must first create an account on the website (see steps 1-2 above).

Open the document you wish to print and tap the More Options button (three dots in the upper right corner).

Select Print.

Click the down arrow in the upper right corner.

Tap SmartAlec Printer.

Tap the printer icon.

Click OK.

Open the SmartAlec app to confirm the document is in the queue.
