Kid's Book Club- Held in the summer

Grades 2 & 3 Book Club

Kids entering grades 2 & 3 are welcome to participate in a book club weekly for three Fridays at 4:30pm in August! The kids will be reading and discussing Third-Grade Detectives by George E. Stanley. You can pick up a copy of the book from the library and keep that copy. Book copies are first-come, first-served and there is a limited supply.

Each meeting a child attends will award them a special raffle ticket for the Summer Reading Raffle. This means that instead of getting to fill out just one raffle ticket for reading this book, each child can receive up to 3 additional Book Club raffle tickets depending on how many meetings they attend. Please register your child for each meeting they are able to attend.

The following chapters should be read by the following dates:

Friday, August 15: Pages 1-22

Friday, August 22: Pages 23-42

Friday, August 29: Pages 43-end of book

4-6th Grade Book Club

Kids entering grades 4-6 are welcome to participate in the Summer Book Club for Kids weekly on Thursdays (except for one date on a Wednesday) at 4:30pm starting July 10th! The kids will be reading and discussing The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick. You can pick up a copy of the book from the library and keep that copy. Book copies are first-come, first-served and there is a limited supply.

*A note about the book – it is not as daunting as it seems! More than half the book is in illustrations so there are only about 30 pages to be read a week (this is about the same as last Summer).

Each meeting a child attends will award them a special raffle ticket for the Summer Reading Raffle. This means that instead of getting to fill out just one raffle ticket for reading this book, the child can receive up to 6 additional Book Club raffle tickets depending on how many meetings they attend. Please register your child for each meeting they are able to attend.

The following chapters should be read by the following dates:

Thursday, July 10: Pages 1-133 (end of chapter 5)

Wednesday, July 16: Pages 135 (start of chapter 6) – 222 (end of chapter 9)

Thursday, July 24: Pages 223 (start of chapter 10) – 299 (end of part 2, chapter 2)

Thursday, July 31: Pages 301 (start of chapter 3) – 368 (end of chapter 5)

Thursday, August 7: Pages 369 (start of chapter 6) - 415
