LIBRARY OF THINGS

Did you know that we have various items that can be checked out besides books, magazines, DVDs, and Blu-Rays?

We have puzzles and games for all ages, Learning Kits geared towards babies - 8th graders, laptops to be used in-house only, 2-in-1 tablets that can be checked out and brought home, docking stations, and hotspots.

We also have a museum pass that grants general admission entry for a family to Fosterfields Living Historical Farm in Morristown, Historic Speedwell, also in Morristown, and Cooper Gristmill, in Chester. Additionally, we now have museum passes to The American Museum of Natural History.

DVDs and Blu-Rays are in alphabetical order by title. The ratings of each can be found on the upper right-hand corner of the sleeve. Blu-Rays have a blue label and can only be played in a Blu-Ray player. DVDs have a white label and can be played on a computer, a DVD player, or a Blu-Ray player.

To check out any DVD or Blu-Ray, bring the sleeve to the front desk and someone will assist you. Self-check-out is not available for these items. DVDs and Blu-Rays may be checked out for 1 week at a time. These items will not renew. DVDs and Blu-Rays can be returned either inside at the circulation desk or in the media bin portion of the outdoor book drop.

Learning Kits

We have learning kits for all ages available for checkout. While they are divided into three categories, babies - 2nd grade, 3rd - 5th grade, and 6th grade and above, anybody of any age may check out a learning kit. These divisions are suggestions to help parents and kids find kits that would be most appropriate for a typical child at a given grade level.

All kits have informational content in either the form of actual books and/or informational binders/packets. Kits may also include activity sheets and/or games. While each kit has a variety of items on a given topic, each kit does have different contents. Please read the information for each individual kit to see what items are included.

The second pass we have is for the American Museum of Natural History. These passes are good for general admission + 1 exhibit or show. You may request a maximum of 4 passes at a time. You may request passes 2x per year per library card or until passes run out as there is a limited quantity. These passes do not need to be returned to us. Please note that you must make a reservation online with the museum for your day and time.

Additionally, with your Lincoln Park Library library card, you can get discounts on tickets to Liberty Science Center. All you need to do is show your library card to the Liberty Science Center staff when purchasing your tickets.
